Our companion, Shaykh Yusuf Lorquet — may Allah preserve him — has excelled in tracking down the hadiths for which al-Khatīb (the original author) had left blank spaces. He then gathered the dispersed statements of the scholars regarding those hadiths and compiled them in one place.

There was a pressing need for someone to take on this task, and the author rose to the occasion. He earned the virtue of precedence by being the first to dedicate a work specifically to this subject. He also gained the honor of joining the ranks of the esteemed scholars who have served the book “Mishkāt al-Maṣābīḥ”. And what an honor that is!
